Domains: Do I Need a Domain?

No, you don’t need to have your own domain to create a website with HitMe. The HitMe Website Builder offers a free subdomain where your website can be created. During the initial setup with our website wizard, a subdomain is automatically generated for you. This subdomain can later be changed to another free subdomain or replaced with your own domain.


However, please note that using a free subdomain may limit your website's visibility on search engines like Google or Bing. To maximize your website’s potential, we recommend switching from a free subdomain to your own custom domain.


If you don’t yet have a registered domain and would like to purchase one, we have a dedicated article that provides a step-by-step guide on registering a new domain with HitMe and linking it to your website.


Using a free subdomain does not require an active subscription. However, if you wish to use your own domain, you’ll need to upgrade your account and purchase one of our available packages. This process is explained in detail in the article Costs and Payments.
